Crowns, just like anything else in the mouth, you need to maintain them by brushing and flossing. The crown fits over the tooth but there is an area where the edge of the crown meets the edge of the tooth. We call this area the margin. The margin is an area susceptible to decay if not properly cleaned, and flossed, and checked by the dentist regularly.
